About us

One person, one variety at a time

Saying you drink "Arabica" coffee is a lot like saying you like "red wine."

There are hundreds of Arabica varieties, and they taste as different from each other as Riesling does from Syrah. Bourbon, Typica, Geisha, Pacamara, Pink Bourbon: each one carries its own acidity, body and aromatics before a roaster touches it.

Variety Coffee is built on that one idea. We choose a lot for the plant, name the coffee after it, and print the farm, the altitude and the process on the bag, so you can tell what you are drinking and why.

Behind it is one person. Bastian Harth left a full-time career to work on a coffee farm in Panama, then travelled the producing regions of Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Variety Coffee has been in Berlin since, roasting with Nano Kaffee in Moabit.

We source in small quantities because quality doesn't scale.

Every coffee we offer is traceable to its origin. It is roasted by Nano Kaffee in Berlin. When a lot is gone, it's gone.
