Luis Anibal Calderon

Luis is a Huila Best Cup 2016 top 30 finalist. He was given a very small lot as a gift from his father, and, since then, has been expanding and applying better methods of processing techniques. Coffee has changed the style of his life: He and his family work together as a team to run the farm. He collects only ripe cherries, ferments dry for 25 hours, then moves the coffee to his parabolic dryer for an average of 25 days.

Origin:

Huila, Colombia

Huila is a renowned coffee region in southwestern Colombia, nestled between two major mountain ranges along the Magdalena River valley. The changing altitudes and ideal climate create complex, high-quality flavors in the cup. What makes Huila especially remarkable is its people: while the region supplies nearly 20% of Colombia's total coffee, 80% of the farmers work on tiny, family-owned plots smaller than 7.5 acres (3 hectares)

Variety:

Pink Bourbon

Pink Bourbon is a rare, prized coffee plant born from a natural mix of Red and Yellow Bourbon varieties. While it naturally resists coffee leaf disease (rust), growing it consistently is extremely tough. The genetic traits that give the coffee cherries their pink color are easily overridden by surrounding pollen. To keep the variety pure and preserve its unique flavor, farmers must carefully isolate these plants making authentic Pink Bourbon a rare treat.
